Senior Data Specialist

Purpose of the Job

 

The Senior Data Specialist will play a pivotal role in designing, developing, and maintaining the modern data platform – including data model, data pipelines, lakehouse, and AI-ready data foundations - to support business needs, organization’s growing digital and analytics ambitions.  This role will be responsible for leveraging the data expertise to ensure the seamless flow and accessibility of mission-critical data.  He/she will collaborate closely with other members of the Data and Analytics team as well as other application teams within IT to deliver accurate, reliable, accessible high-quality data and AI-driven insights. 

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate a good understanding of the Master Data Management, modern Data Analytics Platforms, structures/unstructured data and analytics data models. 
  • Design, build and optimize cloud-native lakehouse architecture to support Master Data Hub, Data Analytics, BI and AI/ML workloads. 
  • Develop scalable robust data models, data pipelines, and data lakehouse architectures that align with the organization's data strategy, master data management and analytics requirements. 
  • Implement robust data quality, observability, and monitoring frameworks. 
  • Maintain data lineage for governance and impact analysis, explore AI solutions for automation and quality enhancement, and leverage AI tools for code generation, anomaly detection and data catalog improvements. 
  • Develop and maintain data visualization dashboards and reports. 
  • Demonstrate good understanding of business data domains, such as Beverage, Consumer,  Motor industry, to design and implement domain-specific data and AI solutions. 
  • Collaborate with cross-functional technical and business teams to align data and AI initiatives with organizational objectives. 
  • Continuously explore and implement innovative data engineering, AI/ML technologies to enhance data accessibility quality and business value. 

Requirements

  • Bachelor's above degree in Computer Science, Data Science, AI, or a related fields. 
  • 3-5 years of experience as a Data Specialist, Data Engineer or similar role. 
  • Strong proficient in data modelling, data pipeline design & development, and cloud data architecture. 
  • Strong programming skills in SQL, Python, or other relevant data processing languages.  
  • Proficiency in databases (MS SQL or Oracle); experience with Microsoft Azure (Data Lake, Data Factory, Databricks, and Synapse Analytics) and AliCloud (DataWorks, MaxCompute, OSS, AnalyticDB, DTS, Hologres) data platforms. 
  • Familiarity with data visualization tools, such as Power BI, Tableau, or Qlik, and the ability to design and develop compelling data dashboards. 
  • Experience with PySpark, Spark SQL, vector databases; hands-on experience with LLM fine-tuning, RAG, Chat with Data solutions, Agentic AI workflows is highly desirable. 
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and address complex data-related challenges. 
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills to effectively work with cross-functional teams. 
  • Domain expertise in one or more of the specified business areas (Beverage, Consumer, Motor industry) is highly desirable. 
  • Self-starter with a passion for data. 
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
