Purpose of the Job
The Associate AI Engineer is a hands-on technical role supporting the AI Engineer in embedding artificial intelligence, advanced analytics, and automation as practical value-creation levers across the investment lifecycle and portfolio of JCAP. This role focuses on executing, building, and operationalising production-ready AI components aligned with both investment objectives and Group IT security and governance standards.
Responsibilities
The key objectives of this role include:
• Supporting the AI Engineer in translating investment and operational hypotheses into working AI solutions.
• Executing hands-on development, testing, and deployment of AI/GenAI use cases across portfolio companies.
• Contributing to reusable AI capabilities, playbooks, and documentation across the JCAP team.
• Acting as a technical contributor between JCAP and other Group IT technical teams on AI delivery.
1. Investment Lifecycle Support
• Assist in translating investment theses, due diligence questions, and value-creation plans into AI-enabled use cases.
• Support pre-investment activities including market intelligence, consumer analytics, and document analysis.
• Prepare data-driven outputs and dashboards to support board-level and management discussions.
2. AI Solution Design, Build & Deployment
• Develop and prototype GenAI-powered applications using LLMs (open & proprietary) under the direction of the AI Engineer.
• Implement agent-based components using Claude, Gemini, MS Copilot etc. for multi-agent, human-in-the-loop or autonomous tasks.
• Build and maintain RAG pipelines, vector database indices, and hybrid retrieval components.
• Integrate AI systems with investment platforms via APIs and workflows (e.g., Bloomberg Terminal, Enfusion).
• Support the full AI delivery lifecycle from use-case definition to deployment and continuous improvement.
• Ensure AI solutions are robust, explainable, and embedded into real business workflows.
3. Reusable Platforms & Playbooks
• Contribute to the development of reusable AI components, libraries, and reference architectures.
• Maintain and update implementation playbooks, code repositories, and technical documentation.
• Capture best practices and lessons learned from each engagement for future reuse.
4. Technology Governance & Group IT Alignment
• Ensure AI solutions comply with Group IT architecture, cybersecurity, and data governance standards.
• Contribute to Group-wide AI governance, standards, and tooling.
5. Stakeholder Communication & Change Enablement
• Translate technical outputs into business-relevant insights, dashboards, and demos for JCAP stakeholders.
• Support adoption and change management through user training and hands-on enablement.
• Communicate progress, risks, and blockers proactively to the AI Engineer.
6. Operational Support & Continuous Improvement
• Monitor deployed AI solutions for performance, cost, reliability, and quality; triage and resolve issues in collaboration with the AI Engineer.
• Support model evaluation, prompt tuning, regression testing, and continuous improvement activities.
• Assist in managing token usage, cost transparency, and platform hygiene on JCAP AI infrastructure.
• In addition to JCAP-related AI initiatives, support other Group-wide AI initiatives where needed, providing hands-on technical capacity across Group IT and business unit AI projects.
Requirements
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, Finance, or related discipline.
• 2-4 years of experience in AI software engineering, or data-driven product development.
• Hands-on experience in vibing coding alongside with frontend & backend development, local deployment concepts
• Practical exposure to APIs adoption or other data pipelines.
• Practical exposure to building or contributing to LLM-based / GenAI applications.
• Practical exposure to Agentic AI, Model Context Protocol (MCP) and Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG)
• Solid software engineering fundamentals including Git, code review, testing, and CI/CD.
Preferred Experience
• Exposure to trading workflow, risk & operations, financing, or multi-business group environments.
• Familiarity with investment management tools such as Bloomberg Terminal and Enfusion or other OMS, PMS.
• Experience working with cloud platforms (AWS, Microsoft)
• Experience with vibe coding tools like Claude, Codex, Cursor, etc
• Understanding of responsible AI principles - bias, hallucination mitigation, PII/data privacy, prompt injection defence.
• Experience collaborating with external technical vendors on AI delivery.
