Assistant Data & Analytics Manager

Purpose of the Job

The role serves as the technical expert and acts as the Centre of Excellence (CoE) for technical solutions of the Data projects, encompassing data architecture, design and development of data model, data pipelines and data visualization, and data governance.  He/she will be responsible for leading a small team of Data Specialists and Engineers, ensuring the delivery of high-quality data solutions.  This role will also need to collaborate with internal Business Partners within IT department and the Business team for the Data operation and support functions.  He/she will be reporting directly to the Head of Data & Analytics, playing a crucial role in aligning the team's efforts with the organization's strategic data and analytics goals.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the data-centric projects and initiatives, ensuring alignment with business objectives, compliance with data-related policies, standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Implement data management, development and support practices, including data analytics, data quality control and data governance.
  • Identify and address data-related challenges, devise and implement effective solutions.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with cross-functional teams, including business stakeholders, Business Partners and Application owners within IT department, to ensure the successful delivery of data-driven insights, solutions and supports.
  • Supervise and provide guidance to Data Specialists and Engineers within the Data team in HK and mainland China, promoting a collaborative and productive work environment.  Additionally, manage resources and monitor performance to ensure effective delivery.
  • Manage the performance of external data development and support vendors, ensuring they align with the organization's data management standards and deliver high-quality solutions.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends and innovations in data management, data engineering, and data analytics, and recommend appropriate data solutions & improvement.
  • Execute the team's long-term data strategy and roadmap which defined by the Head of Data & Analytics.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's above degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience as a Data Specialist or Data Engineer in a similar role.
  • Proven track record of successfully leading and coordinating cross-functional data projects and initiatives.
  • In-depth understanding of data management principles, data architecture, data engineering, and data analytics.
  • Good problem-solving and critical thinking skills, with the ability to identify and address complex data-related challenges.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in designing, managing and optimizing data pipelines, data lakes, and data warehousing solutions including data modelling, data transformation, and data visualization. Experience in advanced analytics, machine learning, and generative AI is highly advantageous.
  • Good leadership and team management abilities; experience in managing the development and support of external vendors, ensuring alignment with organizational standards and the delivery of high-quality solutions.
  • Domain expertise in one or more of the specified business areas (Beverage, Consumer, Motor industry) is highly desirable.
  • Proficiency in spoken language of Cantonese, Mandarin, and English is required; strong writing skills in both Chinese and English are essential.
  • Proficiency in RDBMS databases, e.g. MS SQL DB, MySQL, Oracle DB.
  • Solid experience in Cloud Data environment such as Microsoft Azure, AWS, Google Cloud, AliCloud or Tecent Cloud.
  • Hands on experience in Data Analytics Platform development including Microsoft Azure Data Lake storage, Data Factory, Databricks, Azure SQL Databases, Synapse Analytics.
  • Proficient in data transformation and ETL tools, such as SQL, NoSQL, Python, Alteryx, Knime, Data Flow, Informatica.
  • Familiarity with data visualization tools, such as Power BI, Tableau, or Qlik, and the ability to design and develop compelling data dashboards.
  • Experience in constructing architectural diagrams.
  • Familiar with RPA automations tools such as Power Automate, UiPath, Blue Prism.
